Bestseller Wednesday: Revlon "Coloustay" Foundation (Oily/Combo) Review
If there was ever an award for the most over hyped foundation in the world. This foundation would be the recipient! I have been so many amazing things about this foundation, from the price, the quality, the coverage! If you could jump into a beauty forum about this foundation it would mostly by all "oh so good!" "the coverage, the coverage!" "best deal eveeer" and I would like to say ...................
I entered the whole craze, all excited and pumped up to try out this amazing product and I feel like a ran at full speed and abruptly fell face first flat on the track.
What it claims: Foundation smoothes on evenly for a flawless look. ColourStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin by Revlon features SoftFlex technology that will not rub off with normal wear. Oil-free formula looks fresh, feels natural and controls excess oil.
......................
Firstly, the Revlon "ColourStay" Foundation ($22) is expensive! I know in the states its like $12 or something but here in Canada it doesn't even reduce to be $12 when its on sale at Wal-Mart! I bought mine at Shoppers Drug Mart on sale for $19 (after tax). If I were to pay that much for a drugstore foundation, I might as well have paid a bit more for a department store foundation!
The foundation is thick. Very, very thick. It's thick consistency allows it to give you some serious coverage which is great, except for the fact that I felt like a was wearing a layer of clay on my skin. The coverage was so full that it just wasn't natural and it made my face so one-dimensional.
This doesn't blend well either. You don't necessarily need a lot of product to cover your entire face but I found that it needs to be a near perfect match to your skin tone, because I found that it couldn't be worked into my skin very well.
Its true that this foundation will not be going anywhere on your skin, the coverage, the makeup and all will stay on your skin. All that is true, but it really didn't matter to me because within 2 hours my skin had turned oddly pale and was a chalky mess. It stayed a ghostly chalky mess the entire day! I later went to buy some makeup removing wipes while I was out to take off the makeup and went bare face for the rest of the day.
I understand this foundation worked wonders for many people but I seriously don't get how you could stand this foundation! I tried using my best primers and setting sprays, I even tried different methods of applications but it just wouldn't cut it for me!
- Overall rating: 1.9/5
- Recommend to friend: Personally no, but I know a lot of people would do the opposite!
- Buy again: No
when i saw you said it was 22$ i litterly almost died i was like wait...i have bought this foundation before i swear i only spent like 10$ haha. But i have heard the hype on this product and i have only heard complaints on the oily formula specifically, maybe try out the normal skin one? or maybe its not even worth it if its that expensive in canada ):

I totaly agree with you about this foundation. It is an absolute waste of money and a person might as well purchase one of the highend brands for the price of this one.
